That is a question I am asked all the time; do I really need to take a supplement as I eat healthy, drink water and exercise. The answer is YES.

Unfortunately, the food we eat now is not as nutritious and fresh as we think it is, please read my previous blog on What is in or out of our food.  Stress plays a big part of our daily lives and no matter how much we try and curb it; it really has such an effect on our whole body internally and externally. Our fight or flight hormone (Cortisone) kicks in and we are ready to take on the world and the same time it is affecting our absorption of vitamins and mineral from our food.  Supplements feed our skin from the inside out and boost our wellbeing.

Advanced Nutrition Programme Supplements are by far more superior to other supplements in the market and the reason is the combination of premium ingredients along with the quantity and quality of nutrients in the products are at levels which can really make a difference to your skin and overall wellbeing. It takes on average 2 weeks up to 1 month or more for you to feel the benefit from your supplement.

Here is an example of some of my favourite supplements and they are a mixture of supplements for Skin Health, Boosting Immune System, Joint Pain & Perimenopause & Menopause.

Skin Omegas Plus Vitamin A – This supplement is like a drink of water for the skin. The fish used is Sardines and Anchovies and the oil is taken from the blubber and is ethically sourced by EPAX (Friends of the Sea). These soft gels contain Vitamin A for cell renewal & heals and repairs the skin, Omega 3 (EPA for Heart Health & DHA for Brain Health) also with Omega 6 (Evening Primrose Oil for hydrating the skin). Dosage is 2 soft gels daily with food and only contraindications is person taking anticoagulant medication.

Colostrum – C – This supplement builds up your Immune System & helps the regeneration of cell and tissue growth post – surgery, and is brilliant for bowel health i.e. IBS, Crohn’s and Colitis. As I usually get chest infections during the year (I’ve had 2 already this year) I’m going to be taking this supplement this winter & spring to help boost my immune system.  You normally take 1-2 capsules daily before food but if you are sick you can take 2 in the morning & 3 in the evening. Cannot take this if lactose intolerant, or pregnant/ breastfeeding. So, I will keep you posted to how this works for me.

Glucosamine Plus MSM – This supplement builds healthy strong joints and reduces inflammation while supporting bone health. As we age this is a good supplement to be taking to make our bones strong and help prevent long term damage. It is also good for people who are very active/sporty, have joint pain & arthritis. Dosage is starting at 1 tablet and building up to 4 daily with a meal. It can be sore on the tummy so take with a multivitamin. Not suitable for pregnancy, planning pregnancy, breastfeeding or taking anticoagulant medication.

Pro Vitality Formula – This supplement is a multivitamin for anti-ageing, brain food and energy. It comes in a blister pack and contains 5 supplements. The 1st is a multivitamin (makes everything work better & generate skin health). 2nd is a skin antioxidant (contains 40 minerals & vitamins which will protect the skin from harmful free radicals/pollution). 3rd Skin Vitamin C (for Colour of skin i.e.: reduce redness, Collagen – synthesis own collagen, Clarity – lighten & brighten the skin). 4th Brain Food (cognitive benefits which aid with memory especially during perimenopause/menopause, breaks down fat and creates energy). 5th Antioxidant which is an energy booster). This really is a powerhouse of a supplement and I am starting it now and cannot wait to see the results as it tackles so many skin issues but what I’m really looking forward to is the cognitive benefits (my memory) & energy booster. I will keep you posted about how this supplement is working. Not suitable if pregnant, planning pregnancy, breastfeeding or taking anticoagulant medication.

All these supplements and many more are available to buy in Celebrate Skin. Please book a consultation and we can go through what is your concerns and needs. Booking link is below.
